Eating Sand

Shew, this summer sure has been busy so far! We started out our first week of vacation by packing up and heading to Daytona with some of our family. Colt and I really enjoyed our time at the beach with some of the girls. He loved going to the beach and eating the sand... yep, my child loves to eat sand. It must be something from his Dad's side ;) Every time we go to the beach, we end up leaving with sand all over his face, mouth, well... everywhere. I know sand is icky anyway and usually gets everywhere too, but I can't ever remember leaving with sand in my mouth... Colt really loves the water too. He loves to sit and splash. He's gotten knocked over a few times from the waves, but usually will get right back up and get back to splashing. He was so funny swimming in the pool too. At the condo where we stay, they have a kiddie pool. Now, Colt isn't quite tall enough yet or sturdy on his legs to let him just walk around in it, but with the float, he really thought he was the man.

After returning from our vacation we've been enjoying being home together. We've been going on walks each morning (depending on the sweltering heat), going to the park, and having playdates with his favorite friend, Kelsey. I've been planning his birthday party too. It's been so much fun! However, next year I don't think I'll plan for it to be quite as elaborate as this year! We're doing a pirate theme, so we have been picking out all kinds of pirate decorations. My closet is overflowing with gold coins and buried treasure! I've also found that I can't do anything unless he's napping! He is walking and most days, just running from one thing to the next, getting into everything! It's amazing how much of a mess such a little person can create. As a matter of fact, this morning I went to get my blow dryer out after a shower, and he had somehow gotten the tissue box off of J's dresser and had completely emptied the tissues box one by one. At that point, all you can do is laugh... and take a picture!

Hopefully our summer will slow down some. Every year my summer vacation seems to go by faster and faster. We're planning on heading to Maryland in July. I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone, but not so much for the 12 hour drive. I have no idea how Colt is going to react to being buckled into a seat for that long. He hates getting into it for 10 minutes, I can only imagine how he'll be for 12 hours. I'm trying to find some things to keep him occupied with, but I can only entertain a 1 year old for so long!

Here are a few pictures of our recent adventures.
